Very little information on this one. I suspect it was likely S. maculatus just on the general description on what's available..

 

DESCRIPTION

 

Im Río Paraná, bei der Quinta. - Von Handgröße, 6 Zoll lang, 4 Zoll hoch, stark seitlich zusammengedrückt, bleigrau am Rücken, goldgelb am Bauch, die Seiten allmälig durch weiß darin übergehend; Schwanz- und Rückenflosse grau, die letztere schwarz gesäumt; Afterflosse ebenfalls schwarz gerandet, aber gelb, wie Brust- und Bauchflossen. Schuppen sehr klein. In der Rückenflosse 15 Strahlen und davor 2 Stachelstrahlen, in der Schwanzflosse 24 Strahlen mit je 3 Stacheln am Rande oben wie unten; Afterflosse mit 33 Strahlen und 3 dicken Stacheln am Anfange. Oberkiefer mit 12 scharfen, spitzdreieckigen Zähnen, und dahinter am Gaumen jederseits 6 kleinere Zähne; Unterkiefer mit 14 großen, spitzdreieckigen Zähnen; Zunge und Kiemenbogen zahnlos, erstere dick und fleischig; 6 Strahlen in der Membrana branchiostega, die Bauchkante fein aber scharf sägeartig gezackt. - Brustflosse mit 18, Bauchflosse mit 6 Strahlen.

 

ENGLISH: In the Río Paraná, at the Quinta. – Handsized, 6 inches long, 4 inches high, laterally very compressed, back lead grey, belly golden yellow, sides gradually changing to white, caudal and dorsal fin grey, latter with black margin, anal fin also with black margin, but yellow, as pectoral and ventral fins. Scales very small. Dorsal fin with 15 rays and 2 anterior spines, caudal fin with 24 rays with 3 spines each at upper and lower margin, anal fin with 33 rays and 3 thick spines at the origin. Upper jaw with 12 sharp, pointed triangulate teeth, and posterior, at the palate 6 smaller teeth at both sides, lower jaw with 14 large, pointed triangulate teeth, tongue and gill arch toothless, first thick and fleshy; 6 rays in the Membrana branchiostega, ventral keel fine but strongly sawlike serrated. – Pectoral fin with 18, ventral fin with 6 rays.

 

Del Río Paraná cerca de la Quinta.- De tamaño de una mano, 6 pulgadas de largo, 4 pulgadas de alto, muy comprimido lateralmente, dorso gris-plomo, panza dorada, en los costados pasando al blanco; aletas caudal y dorsal grises, la última con un borde negro; aleta anal también con borde negro pero amarilla, como las aletas pectorales y ventrales. Escamas muy pequeñas. En la aleta dorsal 15 radios y adelante 2 espinas, en la aleta caudal 24 radios con 3 espinas en los bordes exteriores de la misma; aleta anal con 33 radios y 3 espinas en el comienzo. Mandíbula superior con 12 dientes triangulares afilados en la punta, y posterior en el vómer 6 dientes más pequeños de cada lado; mandíbula inferior con 14 dientes grandes triangulares; lengua y arcos branchiales sin dientes, siendo la primera gorda y carnosa; 6 rayos en la membrana branquiostal, la quilla ventral fina pero fuertemente aserrada. - Aleta pectoral con 18, aleta ventral con 6 radios.

 

Remarks:

The type locality ‘Quinta’ refers to the small farm Burmeister possessed west of the city of Paraná right at the bank of the river Paraná (vol. 1: 432-433).
